Ok so now Cybershack is gaining some momentum. But do we all like what we see? What did you think of the episode?
I liked it. I think it's been almost unanimously agreed that we'd like to see the game review format changed and the show geeked up more (which, understandably, isn't going to happen!), but I like it. I know it's not my job to be a total critic - hell, this is Cybershack's own 'board! - but I only have one criticism. The voiceover (and some of the acting) really sounds like a high school oral presentation. It just doesn't sound natural. Mikey and Charlie seem pretty comfortable with it, but Fuzz (and I'm sorry you get picked on so much!), you sound like you're reading off a script, and that you may or may not actually understand the words you're saying. How can we accept your reviews (and regardless of who writes them, you are the public face of it) as respectable, when you don't appear to be a relevant authority. It's not like we need Bill Gates himself - just someone who is comfortable enough with what they're talking about to sound like they know their s***. Still, the gadget reviews spoke of things that are relevant and there just seemed to be more content and less annoying "filler" in this episode. Episode 4:
Definately better guys. As its been said all along, experience will help you guys tremendously. I'd like to see maybe the occasional tech-based story for non-gaming or gadget stuff, but considering that you guys have to abide by what the Channel 10 guys say and also attract a wider audience than just gamers, thats understandable. Two things though: Fuzz: I hate to say this because you seem to be a fun-loving and good-natured girl, but please, drop the emo-comedy a little more when you are doing a couple of the reviews. Take the Chinese Garden segment for example. I think that you got the idea of the game accross really well and in a funny way, but in doing it the way you guys did I think that it wasn't as amusing as it potentially could have been. From what I could see, you came accross better and in a more amusing way when you were doing things in a more natural presenting/performing style to that of your personality. Because of that I think that you came accross better in segments where you were doing what you were doing in both the Driving and NBA segments. Then again though it all comes down to experience and I think that the more you get of it, the better a job you will do in the long run, sister. Charlie: That adapter-panel you reviewed, can you run through its specs again? It looks to be quite interesting. -------------------- 'Our voyages are very educational... Hi guys and girls, im the new guy here. Dont get to post too often, always busy busy busy!
It has definately improved week by week with the reviews but i thought the chinese gardens thing was a tad over the top. Overall i liked it. Oh and for the xbox 360 comp, aren't you supposed to receive a automatic confirmation by sms saying that they received it....everytime i send a second one it sends me one but never on the first. Just wondering if it got through. |

And anything that's good for the gadget industry is good in my book.
*looks at iPod, s60 Nokia, PDA phone, MP3 player, SwissCard knife, Bluetooth headset, card readers, various headphones, cordless phones, battery chargers, multimeter, power tools, webcam, LED torches, USB sticks, tea-making alarm clock and plethora of computer networking gear* But I digress. You know what I've noticed? Cybershack is all about consoles. Where's the PCs, guys? This post has been edited by phrantic snr: Aug 23 2006, 12:31 AM -------------------- |

LOL Ok so the show is a little bit TVSN without the option to buy. How can we fix this? Establish some criteria at the beginning of each segment to state what each gadget will be graded on? Eg. PMPs on screen quality, battery life and storage capacity, Digicams on picture quality, size, battery life, optical zoom (digital zoom can be replicated in MS paint, fercryinoutloud - it's almost useless!), screen size etc?

Guys - the Joytech control center is great device for plugging your ever growing list of products into your plasma or tv. It's digital through put, so if you plug in a digital signal - it outputs a digital signal. No more plugging and unplugging cables etc and it's about $180 from pretty much anywhere. Keep the feedback coming.

I thought ep4 was the best yet. The review of the pmp's was better than other reviews had been and you brought to my attention one device in particular I had never heard of but am now very interested in (so I guess you have done your job at marketing products). I must also congratulate you on the mention of how usable the pmp’s where and battery life but maybe if you could state how poor battery life was in hours instead of jus poor. I mean is poor 75 hours while everything is 150 hours or is it 4 hours and everything else is around 8 hours, it's a matter of scale and just say it's poor isn’t a really great answer. It is also important to stay how long that battery life is under what conditions, it's unfair to compare an pmp playing mp3 at medium volume to one playing HD movies at full volume. Over all the show is getting much better how ever it seems that you are focusing on portable devices, why not review items like HDTV tuners, HDD DVD players and what not so you can get the mums and dads into the show with item that they would by for the house? It has been made clear that this isn’t to be a geek show so why not review items that ordinary people will be interested in?

I thought that thats what it was, though when you are on a phone to a person with long brown hair and jade coloured eyes and watching a TV at the same time, sometimes you can get a little mixed up. I think that I might get one of those for my mum's 50th in a few weeks, because I know that Mum and Dad have trouble figuring out where the different cords go every time my little brother disconnects a few things so he can use his X-box on their new Plasma. -------------------- 'Our voyages are very educational... Yeah, I wish I had enough cords for that control center.
Also, best ever! I like the way you try and make it funny, and screw it up (somtimes) its funny, and it shows your trying. Like that bit, where Fuzz goes one on one with that guy in the green, then runs away and that whole punch in nose thing at the end. Also, I dont really think that it needs to be more 'geeky' it does for us, but for the public who are like "wow, broadband" its enough and cant tell that shes reading off scripts. but maybe a few jokes that we would only get, thats why we dont really see the humour, because its directed at n00bs so to speak. Anyway, I think my pie is burning in the oven. Overall: 7/10. -------------------- Long live the memory of spekkio.

At the end of the show, did Fuzz hit that guy in blue in the face or something because in the background hes bent over and stumbles out of the shot..

No more Fuzz !
I have had it with her annoying antics ! Also, the emphasis needs to be on games ! My friends were all turned off the show because of Fuzz and the fact that on average, only 1 game is reviewed per episode, and only Xbox360 games !!!!!!! Seriously, this show will crash if the format does not change ! |
