CNet'ss Crave team put together a completely subjective list of the Top 5 Controllers ever made, judging on comfort, virsitility, innovation and practicalness. Frankily I think they F***ed up the list with the inclusion of the XBOX controller and the omission of the Gamecube Controller (those things are damn comfortable). Keep in mind they disqualified the Wii Remote because its too new and you know hasn't gone thoroughly criticed apon.

---------------

#1: Atari 2600 joystick: Featuring a simple stick mechanism for moving around and a red button for firing. It's not technically a gamepad, but it's so crucial to gaming history there's no way we couldn't mention it.

#2: SNES controller: This exercise in ergonomics is a curvy, multi-coloured, multi-buttoned evolution of the angular NES controller. This was the first controller to have shoulder buttons -- a revolution that made an arcade staple like Street Fighter II a viable proposition in the home.

#3: Nintendo 64 controller: This is one of the most important joypads ever produced. Not only did the N64's controller feature an analogue joystick, which made playing games such as GoldenEye realistic and subtle, but it also featured a pistol-like trigger button underneath.

#4: PS2 controller: Nintendo may have started the analogue-stick-on-a-pad idea but Sony really took it to the bank. For many gamers, the DualShock gamepad is the best gamepad ever made. ... Having two analogue sticks meant you could play games in a completely different way to anything available before.

#5: Xbox 360 controller: It was the first wireless pad to come as standard. Its comfy, solid design offers dual analogue joysticks and two analogue trigger buttons underneath. There's also a built-in jack for connecting a headset.

--------------

I don't flipping get why the hell the XBOX controller got in because of Wireless coming as Standard, its not like Wireless controllers were a thing of myths, they had Wavebirds and the Nintendo power Gloves too you know, Plus the fact that they still offer Wired Counterparts of he same controller (WTF!), If anything that spot SHOULD go to the Wii or even the PS3 because there is no wired option.

Mitch, the Nintendo Power Gloves were a joke. They were horrible. I'm guessing you never USED them?

Ohhh no I've seen horrible video testiments about the Power Glove, I was just making a Point that Wireless Controllers aren't really that new and great and that the XBOX 360 Controller probably didn't deserve a spot in the top 5 for having it come standard.

my hands are normal size, I just like the feeling of a controler that fills my hands, and I don't have to cramp my hand around.

i still standby the best controler EVER was the Microsoft Sidewinder

I also still use a Microsoft Freestyle Pro pad, I love that thing as well.

Also, anyone ever mess around with the Dual Strike? That thing was brilliant for single player, non twitch FPS, if anyone has one, and doesn't want it, i'd love to try it out in CSS biggrin.gif

EDIT -- Edited my first post to include pics of all the controlers I'm on about
